Are you feeling this Mars retrograde? That heavy, tired, out-of-gas feeling?
Mars is sooooo retrograde right now.
Retrograde Mars is closing in on the South Node this week, which drains things away from us, like our energy (Mars). This draining effect can help us let go of karmic attachments, old anger. It’s a difficult time for teams and peer groups (ruled by Aquarius), as interpersonal shtuff comes up to be worked out.
Reinhold Ebertin gives the Biological Correspondence of Mars/Node in his book Combination of Stellar Influences: “the activity of the astral body” – A disturbance of the great life rhythms. Do you wake up exhausted from dreamtime activities? Are your rhythms being disturbed?
Keep this in mind especially as Mars approaches the South Node between now and July 18. Sometimes balance is more difficult. It takes more work just to continue functioning and keep it together.
It helps to remember that this is a temporary condition. It will pass. In the meantime, simplify your life and nourish your body.
Mars tends to be dehydrating and hard on the adrenal glands. Mars under stress worsens inflammation, which can affect you anywhere– the skin, the joints, kidneys, gut, brain– you name it.
An anti-inflammatory diet is as much about what you don’t eat as what you do eat. Refined sugars and flours, allergens found in gluten and dairy, and industrially produced nut and seed oils are highly inflammatory. Because the “common wisdom” has been telling us for years that healthy eating means low-fat (and therefore high carb), most of us get too many refined carbs and not enough of the healthy fats, like olive oil, cold water fish, and well-raised animal fat.
It may be a tough slog through the next week or so until retrograde Mars completes its contact with the South Node on the 18th. A Solar Eclipse this Thursday afternoon should liven things up. I’ll post about it in a few days. Until then, take care & be well!
