New Moon in Sagittarius, December 19
A new Moon graces this Yule week with some much needed optimism and good cheer, the hallmarks of the sign Sagittarius. The New Moon’s ruler Jupiter is in Cancer, in mutual reception with the New Moon, a condition where both can support and energize each other.
You might have connection and relationships on your mind as the New Moon conjoins sweet Venus in Sagittarius, starting a new cycle of abundance, growth, and expanding our horizons. The Sag energy can be a little reckless too, playing fast and loose with the boundaries– which has the potential to result in trouble as this cycle unfolds.
This abundant Jupiter/Sagittarius energy reminds me of something I read about magical work recently– it was advice to manifest prosperity, not abundance. Abundance can weigh us down. Abundance of junk. Abundance of fat tissue. Abundance of garbage. Abundant demands from others.
Abundance of things we value– health, wealth, connection, community, a manageable life– that is prosperity. That advice stuck with me. I don’t set intentions to attract abundance anymore. I wish for prosperity.
I’m going to ponder this as the Lunar cycle unfolds, the line between abundance and excess. This is a great cycle to work on any issues dealing with prosperity or lack thereof in your life. Focus on releasing blocks to prosperity, or blocks to enjoying the prosperity you have.
It’s also a great cycle to work on releasing excess abundance and replacing harmful behaviors and excesses with something healthier and more supportive. The degree of this New Moon near the end of Sagittarius supports release of an old cycle.
🧣🧣🧣 The New Moon is part of an unfolding process
The New Moon’s ruler, Jupiter, also crosses paths with Chiron in Aries in a difficult way. That’s the red thread running through this week. Jupiter’s first square with Chiron took place in October. Something you’re dealing with now might have first shown up in October. Now you’re really getting a sense of what’s inside that box. The third chapter, where the end result unfolds, is due to show up next Summer.
Jupiter under stress is like a funhouse mirror. It distorts and interferes with our sense of proportion, so that matters may be of more importance– or less– than you’re thinking. Jupiter square Chiron may involve a healing process connected to any sort of pain, physical or emotional, that you’re experiencing now. It’s a reminder to walk a middle path. Jupiter’s abundant influence is protective and effective when it shines through the sign Cancer. But the downside, now that Jupiter is under stress from the wounded healer Chiron, is excessive emotion and impulsive action. Growing in power all week and peaking just before the Solstice on Sunday, the 21st.
I’m not advising you to suppress your emotions, but I am saying, (as long as you are safe, dear one) put the situation on simmer. Things will look and feel different next week.
