Horary to the rescue!

My voice recorder is this nifty little digital thing made by Olympus, no bigger than 5 Marlboro Light 100’s side by side. It’s a handy little gadget, and it’s what I use to record my chart readings.
This morning I sat down with a chart and my cup of tea, ready to start a reading for a wonderful client. But I could not find my recorder! I looked everywhere. I retraced my steps. I looked in the drawers. I looked in between the books. I looked under the desk. I looked in the drawers again. I looked in the trash. No recorder. Do you ever lose something, get stupefied, and start looking in the most ridiculous of places hoping it will turn up? That’s how far things had gone.
So I thought, what do I have to lose here. And I ran a horary chart.
Where is my recorder?

I tried horary years ago, but I got confused and frustrated, and abandoned it for other things. So I cleared the cobwebs from my bookshelf and opened up Tony Louis’s Horary Astrology Plain and Simple.
Chapter 12, Finding Lost Items. The significator of the lost item is the first thing to work out. Is it the 2nd house because it’s my possession, or the 3rd house because it’s technical equipment? No matter, the 2nd house cusp is Capricorn and the 3rd house cusp is Aquarius. Both have Saturn as the traditional ruler. Makes sense, as this thing is a tool for my work.
Okay, Saturn’s in the 9th house.
The significator of me, the querent, is Jupiter, over there in the shadowy 12th house, square Saturn, the ruler of my recorder. I’m not liking the looks of that! But I press on.
The 9th is a cadent house. Louis writes, “Cadent houses signify hidden, concealed, or secret locations.” Greeeaaat. But a few paragraphs down, he gives me a clue that breaks this case wide open. “If near a house cusp, then near a door, window, or passage between rooms.” I check the bag hanging from my doorknob. No luck. I check the chest of drawers next to the door. Nope. I open the window shade. TA-DA! There it is, sitting on the windowsill, absolutely concealed by the shades. A happy ending!
Shifting gears for a moment, if any of you are market watchers, did you know the stock market is doing exactly opposite what astrologers are expecting it to do? Lynn Hayes posted an article about it recently. I just started watching the market, but I have long known that Jupiter square Saturn historically has brought higher interest rates and inflation. But the market chugs on. I wonder if the other shoe is going to drop, and if so, when? Any thoughts on that?

See? Mercury in retrograde! People are losing all their gadgets, phones breaking.. So weird that it is so obvious.

could it be that Saturn in Leo is feeling a little more generous than usual, and Jupiter in Scorpio is feeling a little more cautious? I get a feel they are Trading Places:) also, what else is acting on that square?
if the other shoe is going to drop, i bet it’s after Jupiter gets into Sagittarius and the new political regime starts generously spending imaginary money.

heh.. you think they’ll spend more imaginary money than the current regime with their tax cuts plus unnecessary war? That would be something.
The one idea that makes sense to me is Jupiter and Pluto in mutual reception. That could have a protective influence on the financial markets that would shift as Jupiter goes into Sag.
I was also wondering what this means for next year’s Jupiter Saturn trine, a time when markets usually do quite well.
This is all building up to Uranus moving into Aries in 2010. Last time Uranus transited Aries and squared the USA’s Cancer planets, the 1929 crash happened.

sorry, molly, should have said “more” imaginary money. it’s a truism of government, at least ours. nobody ever spends LESS than the last guy. (and like all truisms, yes, there are exceptions!:) I still think the political transition timing (without naming names or picking parties, mind you:) dovetails with Jupiter in Sag. A kinder, gentler Big Brother:)

Hi Molly,
Do you know an horay astrologist that you could recommend?
Thanks, Sheree
