Autobiography in Five Short Chapters
by Portia NelsonChapter 1. I walk down the street. There is a deep hole in the sidewalk. I fall in. I am lost. I am helpless. It isn’t my fault. It takes forever to find a way out.
Chapter 2. I walk down the street. There is a deep hole in the sidewalk. I pretend I don’t see it. I fall in again. I can’t believe I am in the same place, but it isn’t my fault. It still takes a long time to get out.
Chapter 3. I walk down the same street. There is a deep hole in the sidewalk. I see it is there. I still fall in. It’s a habit. My eyes are open. I know where I am. It is my fault. I get out immediately.
Chapter 4. I walk down the same street. There is a deep hole in the sidewalk. I walk around it.
Chapter 5. I walk down another street.
To me, this is a wonderful sketch of the Uranian waking-up process. Especially chapter 3. Uranus transits are times when unconscious habits can become conscious. The process is much more painful if you are stuck in chapter 2. Less so if you are willing to move on to chapter 3. Accept that your situation is your fault. And get out quickly. It’s not about blaming yourself. It’s about taking responsibility and reclaiming your power.
As Uranus moves back and forth between Pisces and Aries this year, collectively we are bringing something old to an end and something new into being. The world is changing in fundamental ways, and so must our attitudes and actions.

Wow, this is AWESOME. I can relate SO MUCH to this today. And just like a real book…I myself have gone backwards from certain chapters, rereading the same thing but learning nothing new except that you have to go on to the NEXT chapter to reach THE END. Brilliant!

What a fascinating way of looking at it all. Feels accurate and encouraging. And it’s a reminder that I don’t have to beat myself up for not being perfect!

Sadly, I think a lot of people get stuck in Chapter 2 & 3 – making it out to chapter 4 & 5 is the hardest part! Great comparative :)

How does Uranus affect my decision making process?

That is very powerful.I can really relate to that. It reminds of something I read in the book “Goals” that says to accept that where you are in your life and the things that are happening are your fault. This empowers you to take control.Very well put and interesting.

Uranus retrogrades back into Pisces August 13 and remains so until December 5, when it stations direct and then moves forward, re-entering Aries for the final time next March, 2011. Excellent time to review the past 7 years of Uranus in Pisces and ground down into the lessons of Chapters 1, 2 & 4, so moving on into Uranus in Aries will be that much more rich.
Really enjoyed this article as it puts a fine edge on this transition.
Thanks!
