This is the glyph for Taurus, the bull.
Taurus is the Fixed Earth sign. Fixed signs resist change. Earth signs are practical and grounded, and earth is the most solid and the slowest to change of the four elements. Taurus is the most stable and unchanging sign of the Zodiac, known for both her dependability and her stubbornness.
Venus, the goddess of love and pleasure, is the ruler of Taurus.
Any planets in Taurus express their energy Slow and Steady. Persistence and patience get Taurus a long way, but unwillingness to change and adapt can block paths for Taurus. Being an Earth sign gives Taurus good business sense, also a keen sense of the value of things and a talent for gardening.
Whether it’s food, love, art, or flowers, Taurus knows when it’s good. Taurus appreciates beauty and likes to indulge in the sensual pleasures and the finer things in life. One might even say, over-indulge: Taurus is prone to laziness.
Taurus rules the neck and shoulders, and Taurus natives often have sensitivity in that area. Emotional tension and stress accumulate in the muscles in the shoulders and neck, for example, and these folks are prone to sore throats. They often have lovely or soothing voices. Many singers are Taureans.
Taurus needs to express negative emotions instead of holding them in. Unexpressed anger and resentment remain un-dealt with anger and resentment, until it all boils over, and Taurus explodes with rage. It ain’t pretty.
For the Venus-ruled, it’s a common trap: you want to be nice, you don’t want to upset your routine, you don’t want to rock the boat. So negative situations are “smoothed over.” I call it “using a band-aid on a tick.” Covering it up won’t heal it, you’ve got to yank it out. Otherwise you’re carrying a grudge around that keeps getting bigger and drains away your energy.
(The same goes for Libra, the other Venus-ruled sign.)
Wherever you have Taurus in your chart shows where you have these strengths and vulnerabilities.
Chart reading tip:
For more information about placements in Taurus in your chart, look at the sign that
Venus occupies. Venus in
Taurus or
Cancer indicates a very tender Taurus with extremely strong security needs. Venus in
Gemini or
Aries indicates a more intellectual or idealistic Taurus.

Hi Molly – thanks for your insightful and hopeful private reading the other week. I still listen to the recording of it and am gleaning helpful tips from it every day.
At any rate, you mentioned in one of your posted comments that angles are more important than aspects . . . what do you mean by that? What is the difference between an angle and an aspect and how does one go about finding out an angle?
Second, when a person has a difficult aspect in their natal chart, i.e. my Saturn and Moon conjunction which is also doubly difficult due to its opposition of Mercury, is there anything a person can do to overcome the harmful traits of such aspects?
Thanks, Dakota

Hi Dakota--
I'm glad you enjoyed the reading!
Angles-- completely different than aspects. I was talking about solar returns. I read SR charts differently than natal charts.
You can always endeavor to overcome difficult aspects by developing the positive traits and working to overcome the negative traits. Hard aspects are more compelling, you keep running into your own messes until you embrace the energy in a positive way. Use the energy or it will use you, one of the cardinal rules of astrology. It's not that you can't get what you want or you shouldn't have it; but you have to learn how to get it in a way that works for you.

I want to know is this stuff about compatible is real. Because I think I have falling in love with a cancer. Please to me the truth. Do cancer’s and tarus’s really are a good match.

I am married to a Taurean, I’m a Virgo. Yes, we’re compatible. We both are earth signs but many differences. He’s patient, good with money, accomodating BUT stuborn, lazy and an UNROMANTIC !!! But I weigh both and well, rather stick to him for he doesn’t give me any big problem and after 12 years of marriage with 4 kids, I still have the freedom to have my space, have outings with friends and sometimes for days away from home and he took care of the kids….can’t ask for more than that..can’t have the best of both worlds…but u sure have a choice to fill that ‘emotional emptiness’ by having an affair…(food for thoughts) ooppss…sorry, I’m the playful type but not to extremes though! Sometimes, affairs are good for self-realization when you come back to your senses again.

Khadijah, you can assess compatibility with astrology, but it takes a lot more than just the Sun signs to do it. Some Taurus-Cancer couples will work out. The signs do tend to work very well together. But others will not work. It depends on how your chart jives with your sweetie’s, and how ripe for relationship you both are.

i was born on may 21-1974. i dont know what time
but i think it was between 5 and 6 am. i’ve been told i was born on a cusp of both taurus and gemini. so can you help me.
7 · Molly · 20 December 2006
That depends on your location of birth, coco. The Sun did change from Taurus to Gemini on your date of birth, at 11:36 am GMD. But I can’t check your chart to find out for sure, without your place of birth. It’s always 5 or 6 am somewhere in the world.

Venus could also be in Pisces with a Taurean Sun.

Hi. I am a Taurus (may 13th) who is married to a Capricorn (jan 5th) who procrastinates his life away. Folks say we are compatible but I don’t see it. I’m a go getter and always moving and he is not. I see this as a problem later on in life. If you have any more info, please share.

Hi Irna— the reason that Sun sign compatibility writeups don’t ring true is that most of them are Bull(dookey). Compatibility is very complex, and in my view more Moon based than Sun based.
