You’ll need your chart. Don’t worry; it’s easy to have your chart calculated online these days.
You can tell a lot just by looking at the “big 3” most important points in the chart:
*Number one is the Sun* ![]()
The Sun describes your essence, your character, what motivates you.
*Number two is the Moon* ![]()
The Moon describes your feeling side. Your habit patterns, what makes you feel secure or insecure, how you react.
*And number three is the Ascendant, or rising sign.* Your rising sign is the sign on the left side of the horizontal line that divides the chart into top and bottom halves. (This line is the cusp of the first house. On the right side, it’s the descendant, or cusp of the 7th house.) The Ascendant describes your “style,” how you go about achieving your goals. The sign on the Ascendant describes you on the job interview, and the Sun sign describes you on the job.
If you need help with the symbols, here’s a handy reference.
Read the descriptions of the signs of your Sun, Moon, and Ascendant. How are they similar? How are they different? How do you relate to these descriptions? Do you relate better to one than the other?
These “big 3” signs are your astrological “handshake.” When you meet another astrologer, or introduce yourself to a group of astrologers, it’s a polite gesture to offer this information. It tells astrologers who you are without revealing too much!
Doubles and Triples
You’ve probably heard someone described as a “double Pisces” or a “double Leo.” This generally means that two of the “big 3” are the same sign. When the Sun, Moon, and Ascendant are all the same sign, that’s a triple.
Note
Some of you are trying to take the Sun, Moon, and Ascendant signs and squish them together to come up with something deeper than this: you are all three. These three pieces represent different sides of your personality. Don’t over-complicate it. It really is that simple.

My sun is in Leo, my Moon in Virgo and my ascendant
is scorpio.. how do I make sense of thes signs when reading my horiscope .. cause I'm really lost at this point in time .. too many things going on..
2 · Molly · 18 October 2005
Hi Giulia--
One of the most helpful things I ever learned about astrology is that there are no “buts” only “ands.” These three signs make up your basic character, which is Leo AND Virgo AND Scorpio. People are very complex. And these different aspects of you will come out at different times, in different situations.
The more you learn about the signs, the Sun and Moon and Ascendant, the more you'll understand. It takes a while to get it though. You might benefit from my tutorial How to study astrology.
Best,
Molly

i understand astrology and the moon signs and all that but i wanted to know if u c ould put it into simple words for me. my sun is in scorpio, moon in pisces, aquarius. also my boyfriend has sun in capricorn, moon in gemini, and leo rising.
4 · Molly · 21 December 2005
Well, if you read this site much you'll see I don't just offer chart interpretations here in the comments.
But ok, simple terms. Read the descriptions of the 3 signs. Scorpio, Pisces, Aquarius. Notice any similarities among the signs? Any differences? Ok, then. You carry the traits of all three, no matter how similar or dissimilar they are. That's what makes you so interesting.
Now, do I really need to re-hash the meanings of the signs for you? Not when they are a mere two clicks away.
Really.......

My sun is in pisces, my moon pisces, and my ascendant is leo. Also my mars and venus are in aries, but I was wondering if since my ascendent is leo does the fire dry my water elements. I am confused as to whether this may be harmful to my personality and how I should balance them if possible.
8 · Molly · 24 February 2006
Hi Lelsey,
No the elements do not cancel each other out or harm each other. There are no “buts” in astrology, there are only “ands.” You are Pisces, AND you are Leo. So developing your art of living means knowing when to use your Pisces sensitivity and malleability, and when to step up and be the boss, Leo.

Listen up, y’all.. I’m here to help you learn astrology, not to spoon feed you interpretations.
The Sun is your basic character. The Moon describes how you are wired emotionally, what you need for security. And the ascendant describes the way in which you approach the world, your personality, the first impression you make.
I have a page on each sign.. your personality is a patchwork quilt made up of all three. Sun AND Moon AND Ascendant. Go read about those signs, and you have your answer.

My sun is in Scorpio my moon is in Pisces and my ascendant is Taurus. Usually Taurus is a materialistic sign, but I am not materialistic at all, or (slow moving) I don’t have any of the Characteristics of a Taurus Rising. Could I be dominated my my moon sign?.... Because I feel like an ALL OUT pisces.
17 · Molly · 21 May 2006
Hi Alyson--
Either your birth time is off, or you still have some learning to do about yourself and what it means to be a Taurus rising.
I don't mean to be glib, but sometimes the most surface definitions don't fit at first. Most of us have parts of ourselves that show up in our charts, that we don't understand until we have worked with the chart for a while. Or they may remain hidden because we are focused on other, more demanding facets of self.
I encourage you to read up on Taurus in general and Taurus rising in particular.. not just the two-sentence canned interps you find all over the web, but in-depth explorations you'll find in the good books. Better yet, have your chart read by a professional; that will give you a head-start and a jumping off place from which to launch your studies.
Best of luck,

I have three pisces planets all in the 8th house which are my sun moon and mercury and the house is in pisces. Everything I have read about this is very bad and negative. I’m especially concerned about this because I read that a debilatated mercury in the 8th house means poor longevity. I’m also going through a point in my life which I am very confused as to whether I should end my relationship with my childs father but I am afraid to because of all the horrible things I have read about this house not to mention Im a pisces anyway-ha. Thanks a lot for being so helpful not many others would do this for people. Lots of love.
19 · Molly · 11 June 2006
Hi Jenn—
I have Mars and Saturn in the 8th house (try reading up on those sometime), so I know the freaky interpretations. Don’t let it get you down too much. Those negative ideas are relics from a negative time. There are a lot of bozos out there, so don’t take it too seriously.
Check out some of the books and websites on my links list for more positive sources.

I am an Aries with Virgo Rising and Moon. Isn’t this like a contradiction?? Aries is said to be aggressive and impulsive, while Virgo is over critical and conservative. Hello, Molly.
I seem to be missing something here…Jupiter is (finally!) going direct, in Scorp. But, when I look at modern sky charts, Jupiter is sitting at RA 14h27m, decl -13degr 27min…barely in Libra, almost backed way into Virgo…
So (showing my ignorance) how is this “resolved” by astrologers?
Best regards!
24 · Molly · 11 July 2006
Hi Larry— Western astrology uses the tropical Zodiac, which is aligned with solstice and equinox points. Due to a phenomenon called precession, the tropical Zodiac and the constellations are no longer aligned.
In the sidereal Zodiac (used by Vedic astrologers) the constellations do correspond with the signs.
I think this is what you were asking anyway…
25 · Molly · 15 July 2006
Cate,
The idea is, the moment of the first breath is the moment you receive whatever “cosmic imprint” is responsible for astrology working. It’s your first moment as an independent being, the beginning of life, a very important moment. It doesn’t matter when you were “due.”
(Due dates are pretty much artificial anyway if you think about it. Some “normal” term of pregnancy set by the doctor. In reality it varies, and it always has.)

i find my aries side comes out alot sometimes i feel more like an aries than an aquarious, and the name moon sign suggests that it comes out in you more when theres a full moon is that true??
27 · Molly · 19 July 2006
Hi Mitzy—the Moon in our charts represents our feeling side, our receptive side, our emotional side, how we nurture. Since emotions run high during a Full Moon, you may be right about the Moon sign expressing more at that time. But it’s there and an important part of you all the time.

my sun is in leo, moon in Capricorn, and asce in Aquarius
does this make me less of a leo?, cause i dont feel totally leo, sometimes i wish i had the confidence to feel totally leo.
31 · Molly · 10 August 2006
Hi Jus--
There's nothing that can make you less of a Leo, but it may be hidden or obscured or just not completely developed yet. If you read my page on Leo, you'll see a more balanced look. Leos are not all about the bravado. And sometimes the Leonine confidence must be developed! In fact, the more planets in fire signs, the more sensitive to attention and thus the shyer the person tends to be.
Cap and Aquarius are both fairly reserved signs as well. The thing to remember is there are no buts in astrology. Things don't cancel each other out. There are only and's, and your chart shows a patchwork quilt of characteristics all blended together.

i am always in a fluster and can never seem to feel completely in the right place. i heard that this is because my
sun is in taurus and moon is in gemini; (also ascendent aries)apparently its a major major conflict
please could you give me a bit of info..is conflict right? although i am young i worry that i’ll never be able to get a proper job homelife etc cos i’ll be feeling torn between oppiste qualities of taurus/gemini … also how much does moon sign make up of you compared to sun?
my venus is gemini too &feel closer to that than taurus
33 · Molly · 24 August 2006
Hi Jess—
It is said (and I believe it) that the Sun is stronger in a day chart, and the Moon is stronger in a night chart. Since you were born before sunrise, you have a night chart. Thus you may express your Moon sign more prominently, although your Sun sign is still relevant. It’s just more of a background thing.
Don’t worry about being torn or never finding a proper life. The challenge of us all is to find the best way of working with what we have. Astrology gives us a road-map to do that. Any astrologer who says you have a screwed up chart is a screwed up astrologer! Don’t forget that. There is a lot of garbage out there.
Use astrology in a positive way.. that means read up on all the signs in your birth chart, and strive to understand yourself, to work with yourself, to develop the positive potentials of everything in your birth chart, and avoid the pitfalls. (Every sign has its potentials and pitfalls.)

Dena,
When you have opposites in your chart, your job is to find a balance between them, to live the best of both. It does not mean you’re nuts. Good luck to the two of you.

Hey Ashley,
I’m not Molly, but you’re definitely a Pisces. Go to astro.com and put in your birth info to see a more detailed look at your chart (includes moon and rising signs).
Personally, I am not all that huge a believer in cusps. I mean, I think it’s valid to an extent, but the other influences in a chart (moon, rising, aspects, houses, etc and so forth) are more important, but then again I’m not an astrologer, so it’s just my opinion.
Here’s an example. My dad’s an Aries, but he IS very much born on the cusp of Aries and Pisces. His birthday is March 21, which is the cusp day. However, I was born a week later on March 27th, and I have a lot more Pisces in my chart—and it has nothing to do with the cusp factor. He has pretty much nothing in Pisces and, in my opinion, displays traits more like Cancer because of his Cancer moon (he cooks for us all hehee).
Anyway, I’m sure there’s more info out there on cusps. Do a google search!
:D
38 · Molly · 5 October 2006
Hi Ashley— Different authors have different ideas about people born on the cusp. Some people feel like there’s a little blurriness between the signs. I do not. You are one or the other. All of the professional astrologers I know feel the same way.
You might really like Amanda Owen’s book, Lucky Stars. It’s good astrology, and she wrote it with teenagers in mind. Her site is www.amandaowen.com.
39 · Molly · 20 October 2006
Mystere,
These three signs describe different “sides” of your personality. The Sun is your basic motivation, the Moon is your feelings. The combination of the three suggests you have a dreamy side, a practical, perfectionist side, and an adventurous side. There are no “buts” in astrology, only “ands.” Astrology is complicated enough without thinking you have to combine all three to make up some perfect combination. Think of it instead as a patchwork quilt.
Ashlee, moodiness is definitely a Cancerian trait, and getting angry at random times sounds like a combo of Aries and Cancer to me. Random anger isn’t a “typical” Gemini trait.

You wrote "It is said (and I believe it) that the Sun is stronger in a day chart, and the Moon is stronger in a night chart. Since you were born before sunrise, you have a night chart. Does that mean that I have a night chart. I was born at 8:32 PM. Or does the night chart start after Midnight?
Also with my sign going through Saturn this year I have many questions. But the two questions that really come to mind are – Does Saturn spend a certain amount of time in each house? Which house will it start in?
If you can point me in a direction to find this info out, I would greatly appreciate it. I remember the last time I went through Saturn being a very lonley time in my teens and I want to know more this time around.
Thanks Molly,

The Ascendant/Descendant axis, (the horizontal line across the chart) divides day from night. The Sun crosses the ascendant at sunrise, the beginning of day, and crosses the descendant at sunset, the beginning of night.

Hello,
I’ve been looking for the answer to this question for quite a while now. What does it mean when one person’s sun sign is the other person’s ascendant and vice versa? The odds of this showing up in both charts seems rare and might be why I can’t find the answer in a book.
Thank you,

As someone above said, you have amazing levels of patience to deal with the redundant questions every time you post. And you’re an Aries? That’s doubly amazing.
Anyway, as a sometime dabbler in basic astrology, I’m glad to say some parts of my personality really make more sense (I’m a Scorpio Sun/Moon/Saturn/Venus/Pluto, but a Gemini ascendant, which doesn’t match the Scorpio at all). My question is: do various parts of one’s chart take on more importance at different times? For example, as a child and early teen I was very Scorpionic indeed, and without knowing it. Now in my early twenties I’ve swung to a very Gemini-ish mode and people don’t freak out about the intensity of my stare anymore. Is this selective memory or something else?

69 · Sag/Cap · 9 April 2008
Molly, I’ve been “studying” astrology for 5 years now and I haven’t heard the idea of a “night” chart and a “day” chart. (But it’s a hobby and not a full time study, so I’m not fully immersed in it which lessens the chance that I would have known that.)
Thanks for that insight. It makes complete sense to me, and I think you’re right. I couldn’t come up with a reason why my Capricorn moon seems so much more apparent in my life than my Sagittarius sun until reading your post. I was born before dawn, making mine a night chart and therefore my moon sign stronger. Right on the money in this case. The sag. personality is very much there, but is not what people see right away AT ALL. Not until they get to know me better do they know my Sagittarian side. And being such sort of opposite signs, I think it makes me a bit of an enigma. ;)
Keep up the good work. Thanks. (And kudos on your patience with the repeated requests for readings!!)
70 · sag/cap · 9 April 2008
Dear Sudhanshu,
I am by no means trying to answer you FOR Molly, but I would like to offer you and others with similar questions some well meaning advice.
Molly can’t tell you something about your future. She has made it very clear that you can use astrology to gain insight to your tendencies and make adjustments. Those who are “doing” astrology right know that. It can show you which areas you have challenges in and in which areas you have strengths.
so, as far as telling you about your future, it comes down to your own awareness of yourself, as it would whether you knew your signs or not.
Make good choices in life, be aware of how you impact others, make personal adjustments as necessary. Don’t fall for horoscope junk sites that proclaim to read your future. Transits that occur will affect your thinking and your clarity at times, as well as what kinds of situations you encounter.
It is all for the eventual development of your spirit, and that’s the only way to use this information. But be proactive. Don’t just ask for readings in the way that we hire housecleaners because it’s easier than doing it ourselves. Personal growth doesn’t work that way.
71 · sag/cap · 9 April 2008
I meant to add to that last comment that having a chart read is a service that should be valued, and any astrologer worth their salt will charge for the time, knowledge, and effort it takes.

I’m currently having an identity crisis. I am a Virgo, with a Taurus Ascendant and Moon in Gemini. I was born on the seventeenth of September at 9:07 PM. My problem is I do not relate to my birth chart at all. I was born by c-section. My mother’s water had not broken, and I was breech (she was nine months pregnant). The doctors were panicking, so they decided on a c-section. I know the “first breath” theory, but I seriously do not identify with my signs. I am very much Libra, with a few Virgo tendencies (Let’s just say when it comes to my sun sign, I’m 60% Libra and 40% Virgo), and I feel much more like a Cancer Moon and Pisces Ascendant. What is your opinion on this?
Thanks Molly,
Jasmine
73 · Molly · 10 April 2008
Hi Jasmine,
I am firmly in the “first breath” category.
When I had my first look at my chart, I didn’t identify with it either. But in time, as I got to know more about astrology and about myself, I realized it does reflect who I am.
My advice to you is to try to trust the chart and learn from it. I think in time you’ll grow to understand it, if you give it some time. But if you keep second guessing it, you’ll remain confused.

Hi I am a Sagittarius, Virgo, Gemini and i was wondering how i could fully understand myself. I am especially interested in my emotional side, the Virgo. I love being a free spirited sag but i feel like sometimes when i like a guy i tend to express the Virgo more which i find as a shyer version of myself. How can i make my outgoing personality shine through? I hate that people get a first impression of me as a shy person. Thanks!

I just looked up my best friend’s natal chart; I always knew she was a double Scorp. But I just found out she has an ascendant in Sco, as well as Mercury and Saturn. I can’t believe it! A triple Scorp? I told her she could rule the world…
76 · Curtis · 19 June 2008
I have Sun in Virgo, ascend from Pisces, and I have moon in Taurus. I just wanted to know if there is anyway to put myself out to the world as my Sun sign, because i always seem so confusing to others because of my ascendant. Also, am i more of an introvert because i am double earth (Virgo and Taurus)?
77 · Molly · 20 June 2008
Hi Curtis— Having Sun and Moon in earth doesn’t make one an introvert. It must be something else. I don’t think you can overwrite the Pisces ascendant. Other than making an effort at being clear so others can understand you. Let the Pisces energy flow somewhere else, through a creative channel perhaps.
78 · Hannah S-Q · 20 June 2008
I have a friend who’s an Aquarius with a Pisces ascendant and I can tell that sometimes it bothers her to be vulnerable—but she can’t help wanting to cry at everything because of her sensitive Pisces ascendant! I always tell her to let the tears flow—if she can. It’s healthier that way. I have Pisces moon so I find myself thinking some of the some things—I struggle between vulnerability and assertion, etc.
As Molly said—creative outlets help a TON. My emotions are soothed and find expression through creativity (art, music, poetry, whatever). That is..if you’re unsure what purpose it serves or what you want to do with the energy. I know that if I don’t use my creative and emotional energy I get very depressed and anxious.

I am an Aquarius Asending and Sun and a Taurus Moon. Since i was born before the sun rose does that mean my Taurus sign is more powerful than my Aquarius parts? I have read about Taurus moon and it said that they have a love for music and i already had one before i knew about moon or asending signs.

“Most or your assessments and pronouncements have a “matter of fact” tone to them.”
No matter how caring I’d like to be, I always lose the human touch! My tone becomes robotic in a sense, and I don’t really add feelings into my assessments.
I’m like a cold psychologist when I’m speaking. LOL! With the pisces combined…
“You are quite timid for social Libra, and most will consider you one who stands off and is aloof or distant.”
Conclusion: Not Extroverted.

is there a way to channel or balance the competition and impulsiveness of Aries with the rationality of Capricorn? I feel conflicted on how to approach life all of the time!

Hey Donna— I’d say you need to either be the boss or be your own boss. Aries square Capricorn hates being bossed around. Aside from that, develop the wisdom to know when it’s better to channel the fearless, pioneering Aries or the cautious, risk-averse Capricorn. Good luck with your Aries sweetheart!

I also am a Sag Sun, Libra Rising with Taurus Moon and born in Bremerton! Live in Ohio. I clicked on your name to reply and it took me to your myspace page and saw. How weird is that? Anyhow, my husband was born 8 days after me in the same year. I think he’s a Cap, but don’t know his birth time for sure. For the most part, he’s like a cap. We get along really well the majority of the time, but it’s probably because our charts are sooo similar except for our moons and risings. I think you want to look for compatible signs to Sag, Taurus, and Libra, and also find out which sign your Venus is in. In the past, I found I got along great with Taurus. The one sign that really got under my skin was Scorpio. The one I dated was so obnoxious, I think he had to have an Aries moon. Not to mention all he wanted to do was, well, you know. No thanks, need to know ya better first! And my friend, well, she was cool until her true colors came out. I just couldn’t stand how sharp-tongued she got about others. I’d hate to think she was like that behind my back about anything, and many times, frankly, I didn’t see the big deal with her beefs. All I knew was I wouldn’t want to be on the receiving end of what she had to dish out, nor associated with someone like that. Whew! Too much for me! lol

Hi Molly,
Thank you for so generously giving your time and Astrological skill to (we) the readers of your web site. Your comments and analysis is helpful. I would like to add a few comments about a method that I use to understand the combination of Sun, Moon and Ascendant. It seems to me that there are many ways of describing and combining information to make the information more useful…. personally I like to start with fundamentals, that is, the Sun=Ego/core Moon=Soul/feelings and the Ascendant= Mask/ Outer appearance, then I think about the essence of the element: Example: Leo is a fire sign…. so if a person reveals that they have their sun in Leo….first think about the element… how does fire look, feel, taste, sound, move, etc. And then I get a better grasp of the persons Ego expression. So you might say, that a person with a Leo Sun sign is fiery (excuse the pun) moves quickly with passion and determination.
OK, suppose a person has their Sun/Ego Sign in Fire Leo, and their Moon/Soul in Earth Virgo and their Ascendant/Mask in Water Scorpio. Fire-Earth-Water. Think about the elements and the value of each, and then add more detail, add a word or so that describes the Astrological sign, like the Sun/Ego in Fire/Quick moving/Vibrant Leo, and Moon=Soul/feelings in Earth/ Practical Virgo and the Ascendant=Mask/Outer Appearance in Intense Scorpio, (think about waters power to heal or destroy).
The added dimension that I include is from an Astrology book I read years ago by Steven Forrest, and he mentioned using a word to describe the Astrological trio. An example might be that the person we are using to demonstrate this technique has the Ego of the Queen (if this is a woman), with the soul of the Perfectionist and the Mask of the Seer.
It’s really lots of fun after you get the hang of it!
Best,
-Elena
Give it a test run….like
A woman has her Sun in Aquarius, with her Moon is Capricorn and her Ascendant in Leo…you could say she has the Ego of the Humanitarian, with the Soul of the Business Woman and the Mask of the Performer! Isn’t this fun? Smile.

Hi Molly,
I have a rather odd birth chart. I am a sagittarius sun, scorpio moon and leo ascendant. I find myself to be the stereotypical sagittarius with several leo traits, but I can’t seem to see any of the scorpio. Maybe it’s the nonchalant sagittarius-ness taking over. I have no idea.

Hey Molly. This site is very interesting. I love to see so many people into astrology. I have been studying this for years. I love it. Just for the
record, I am a Sag with a Moon in Cap, and Virgo on the asc. I do not like my Virgo asc. It goes against who I am, and causes people to under estamate
me. I wish we could all get together and talk about our charts all day. As long as I have been studying astrology, I am still learning little things
all the time. I am working on a book. It will be out one day.
89 · Molly · 18 August 2008
Hi Kayla— Scorpio is your Moon, and the Moon is emotions, so those characteristics are not necessarily outwardly displayed. But being the black sheep of the family (Moon) sounds like a Scorpio Moon thing. Start there and you may find that things start to resonate.
90 · Kamen · 18 August 2008
Hi Molly,
A nice site! My Sun is in Aquarius, Moon in Sagittarius and my ASC is (most probably) Libra. The problem is that I don’t know my exact birth time. If I am born 10 – 15 minutes earlier than the time my mother told me, then I would be in the last two degrees of Virgo.
Harmony in human relationships is important to me, I dislike harsh behavior and am usually ready to help, but I am somewhat shy and very introverted – like a hermit, with only two close friends, and prone to melancholic episodes. A friend of mine calculated that my Almutem of chart is Saturn. Also, all my planets are below the horizon. But in social situations, when social interaction is needed, I appear to be more open. I read in astrotheme.com that if Saturn is prominent, then the native with Libra ascendant would be introverted and nervous.
So, my question is: Is it possible to be very introverted and have Libra ascendant at the same time? What do you think about my combination?
91 · Kamen · 18 August 2008
I forgot to mention that I also have this terrible thing called Social Phobia. But despite this, when the situation is social, I am usually nice with people and try to not look anxious. I am also interested in art – writing, composing, but my education is in engineering… So I am asking myself: How could I have Libra rising and social phobia at the same time?
92 · danielle · 18 August 2008
i have sun in Capricorn, moon in Aquarius and Sagittarius rising. how does that affect me?
93 · Molly · 21 August 2008
Hi Kamen— social phobia is not a function of the signs. I would look at the condition of Venus (Libra’s ruling planet) and the Moon in your chart for more info on that. Suffice to say it is not unusual. Libra makes one concerned with social graces etc. But it does not preclude problems in that area.

Yeah..
I am a Virgo sun.. born August 25, 1988.. My sun is in the 5th house.
So, I guess that means I also have some leo characteristics mixed in with the virgo..
My moon is in Aquarius, My rising/ascendant is in Aries. My mercury is in Virgo, my venus is in Cancer, and my mars is in Aries.
Yeah, so sum me up.. and you get one confusing ass mofo..
But wait.. I was born at night time.
I was born at 10:14 p.m. In Dallas, TX – U.S.A.
I read somewhere that if you are born at “night”, then your moon sign will have the most affect over your sun sign.
So, does this mean that I suit the characteristics of, “Aquarius”, more than I do the characteristics of, “Virgo”?
Explain..
95 · Molly · 6 September 2008
Hi Brad— you were born with the Sun below the horizon and the Moon above. What’s above the horizon is visible and below is hidden. So your outward personality tends to be more of the Moon sign than the Sun sign, until people get to know you. It does not override or cancel out the Sun sign. It just tends to be the louder voice in the choir.
96 · brad eddy · 6 September 2008
I see what you are saying.
so.. I appear to have the characteristics of an, “Aquarius”, when people first get to know me.
but, once they actually get to know me..
the (inner me) comes out?
and I think I would appear as an aries too when I am first met.
Because my “rising” sign is in aries.
that makes since..
because I am usually talkative, and outgoing like it says for the aquarius characteristics.
but, once people get to know me.. I get kinda distant, and quiet, and sort of serious.
That is the Virgo characteristics.
This stuff is cool :D!

Hi, I am a triple Gemini with my Sun, Moon, and Rising in Gemini. I also have an interesting but seemingly difficult birth chart with about half of my planets in Gemini (with maybe one or two in Taurus) and the other half right across the cart in Saggitarius and Capricorn, with no outliers- total see-saw shape. So what I need help with is figuring out how to better balance myself and be more committed and grounded and less conflicting with myself. I always feel split in half, a dark side and a light side. I am also struggling with drug addiction and trying to get sober, but I can’t stick to it. Any advice on how to work with my chart?
I feel as if I occupy a very special cosmic place but I need to learn how to work with my chart to fully use my gifts and perceptions.

Hi Jillian— good luck getting clean and sober. This is going to sound b**chy, but I don’t mean it that way. But you sound like you’re at a major turning point in your life. And all you have given me here is a very rough sketch of your chart. It would be like me drawing a sketch of my dream house on a cocktail napkin, handing it to a carpenter and saying, “build this.” In order to really help you, I would need to sit down with your chart and spend some time talking with you. Which I would love to do. Here’s some info about me and my services.

I’m a Aquarius cusp (Jan 21) sun sign, Gemini moon, Pisces Ascendant…from what I’ve read (sporadically), this makes me a pretty unique person. I hardly ever think that Aquarius descriptions sound a lot like me—some are better, some are worse. Could you give me a basic run-down of what this means?
101 · Anna · 2 November 2008
Dear Molly,
I am a combined and complicated person really. My Sun is in Aquarius, Moon (connected to Jupiter and IC) in Scorpio, and I have Leo rising. I do experience this, especially the being of a kind of Aquarian Scorpio or Scorpion Aquarius. I guess and feel that Scorpio is stronger in me. I am able to fight for what I really want the storngest way.
I have a stellium in my third house (Libra/ Scorpio). There is a Mars/ Saturn/ Pluto conjunction and a Moon/ Jupiter conjunction in the 3rd house all together haha. I am unable to sit at my mouth nowadays. I am to express myself, and the urge is quite great for a great change. My 5th house is quite active/ creative nowadays with its Neptune that trines my rising, also sextiles my Sun and my “triplete”. My Sun/Moon midpoint and Venus connected to South Node is also there.
I have other interesting aspects in my charts too. I deal a lot to dig deaper and deaper in my mind/ soul. I also like looking at people and feel them.
It is a hard period in my life. I experience the same as I did 9 years ago. I was to change my “fate” and I am to do the same nowadays. It is hard to co-operate with the old stucture in my soul.
I know that my rulers oppose each other, ang they are sending me the message “Change your mind, Anna.”
Could you tell me something about these combined three women in me? :) It is like a b-day party for three haha.
Anna
102 · David · 8 November 2008
To respond to Katelynn’s question, I don’t feel like the general Aquarius description fits me either…and by the way, we share the same birthday :). Being born on the cusp means that you will share some traits of the previous sign (Capricorn in our case). This in itself will create some discrepencies in the general description of the sun sign. When you add the influence of the moon and ascendant, it can create further discrepencies. Beyond that, there’s other aspects and relationships in your chart that affect themselves and everything else, so it’s really difficult to give someone a ‘cut and dry’ description. If you want a rough description of what your ascendant and moon mean in your chart, try the free outline at astro.com. It’s not 100%, but it should give you an idea.

Im an aries sun, libra moon, libra rising. I’ve read that relationships will never go right for me and im starting to wonder if there is truth to it? I was wondering if someone might have some answers?
104 · Molly · 23 March 2009
Danielle, it’s not that they will never go right. I don’t know where you read that, but you should be suspicious of any blanket statements like that. It really bothers me when people who claim to be astrologers make statements like that.
The thing is, you can’t keep doing the same old things and holding the same attitudes and expect it to go differently. I think it boils down to two things: being a good partner and choosing a good partner. And you can use your chart to map out the patterns you can work on and transform something that holds you back now into something that supports you in the future.

Any reason why my Aquarius ascendant seems to be the dominant aspect of my personality, almost completely drowning out my Leo Sun and Aries Moon? Could the fact that my sun and moon are my only significant planets in fire signs in an otherwise water- and earth-dominant chart be responsible?
112 · Molly · 18 August 2009
Zeb, this is most likely a problem of expecting the wrong thing from these two signs. Aries and Leo are not what most people think. Especially when you have both, you can be quite shy and come off in a way that you may attribute to your Aquarius rising.

I am a Cancer sun and a Sagittarius Moon and I have recently found someone who I am very interested in. He is a Sagittarius sun with a Cancer moon.
Is there something significant about having vice versa sun and moon signs? Does that improve the compatibility between a water and fire sign?
118 · Mjita · 23 November 2009
Basil
What a coincidence, the person that you are interested in and I have the same sun and moon position.
I have Sagittarius sun and Cancer moon. My basic nature doesn’t change that much except that my emotions tend to run deep and I have a hard time moving past hurt feelings and emotions. I am also attracted or drawn to sensitive people; I feel more comfortable with them. I am currently dating a Leo Sun.
In my opinion, the cancer moon can struggle to see the bigger picture and can then sink into bouts of moodiness and crabbiness when slighted.
When it comes to compatibility however, I think your chances are greatly increased(although there may be some ruffling of feathers here and there due to your basic natures).Cancer sun with Sagittarius sun mean that you both have different ways of living live and different goals you are striving for.
Essentially, cancer values security and living life on a day to day basis. Cancer is all about finding emotional calm and predictability in a world that they perceive to be harsh and difficult.
His moon is in cancer, meaning that he is drawn to people who are gentle and nurturing in character(like me). This does not necessarily mean that he’ll only be drawn to cancerians(as some sites suggest), but it does suggest that the people whom he is drawn to have a very gentle, effeminate and sensitive nature.
Your sun in cancer sees the bigger picture for his moon. This means that your goals of security and peace can form a haven for him to feel at home and express himself. You make him feel comfortable and it may be easy for him to spend time with you despite your incompatible sun signs.
Sagittarius on the other hand has more abstract goals that seem more experientialy focused. Sagittarius considers the broader things in life; space exploration, world travelling, discussing the power of politics, human evolution etc. Often Sagittarius (like Pisces) struggles to integrate their goals and interests to everyday life beyond thinking and talking and thus are termed “unrealistic” or “idealistic”.
With your moon in Sagittarius, you are attracted and drawn to the “open-minded” types. You feel comfortable with people who are flexible, even those who see past what is seen by others.
It is also possible that you like alternative points of views. His sun(Sagittarius) provides the bigger pcture and puts things in perspective for your moon.
Its almost like you believe that certain things are possible through the exploration of the mind(moon in Sagittarius) and he KNOWS that they are (Sun in Sagittarius).
It is because of this inter- planetary cross between both your charts that you are both able to understand and be attracted to each other in a way that defies conventional astrological wisdom.(Check your venus and mars signs for further clues about your sexual compatibility.)
Good Luck.

Sun — Sagittarius

Asc — Scorpio (interesting sidenote on my ascendant sign) Mars and Pluto conjunct in 1st House and the latter planet conjuncts with my ascendant. I’ve always wondered if this gave me more characteristics of a sun in scorpio (modern and ancient ruler of scorpio in the house of self)

Stone – yes, Scorpio rising with Pluto & Mars in the first is very powerful. The Sag and Aries pieces are still there (especially Aries with your 1st house Mars), but your personality would come across very Scorpio.

The intense emotions, Sammy, that’s your Scorpio Moon. The Libra side is the seesaw, from happy to dark, to happy again. Things can even out the more you develop awareness and the ability to care for yourself and evolve the way you respond and manage those intense feelings.

Help! Iam a scorpio sun, aquarius moon with a leo rising. How opposite is this? What should I do to balance out these 3 powerful signs? Sometimes I feel as if Iam going to burst because Iam pulled into so many different directions.

Hi Molly,
My sun is in Leo and moon and rising in Libra.
People don’t think I come across as Leo other than those who know me. Is that common with this placement?

Sun in Capricorn, moon in Gemini, rising in Aquarius. Feel pretty bipolar at times.

Hi,
I am a aries sun, cancer moon, and virgo rising – while I understand what each part means separately, what do they mean collectively, in regards to my personality, etc.?
Many thanks,
Andrea

Why do you need them to mean something collectively? They don’t. They represent the different sides of your personality.

I have been ready my chart over and over and over for about a month now. I have a Sagittarius rising a Aries Sun and a Virgo moon. I get the rising and the sun, but i dont see a Virgo in me at all. I hate routine im the most unorganized person i know and I have such high confidence. But i feel like thing i do or say i contradict myself could this be the Virgo or am i missing something? To me im just an Aries And a Sag they fit me so well, to a tee.
