This is the glyph for Neptune. It looks like a trident.
Neptune is the ruler of
Pisces.
Neptune is a symbol of the universal truth that all life is connected. In mythology, Neptune is the god of the sea. He has a dissolving influence on the area of life symbolized by the part of the chart he occupies. He dissolves boundaries and structures considered to be reality; therefore, reality and unreality are sometimes difficult to distinguish in this area. A desire to escape reality through fantasy or other means is common with Neptune.
It is this blurring of boundaries that is Neptune’s greatest gift, however. A strong Neptune indicates creative gifts, deep empathy and compassionate understanding of others.
Neptune in your chart symbolizes imagination and artistic talent, as well as psychic ability.
Neptune circles the zodiac in 125 years. He spends about 10 years in each sign. Everyone born in the same 10-year period as you will have Neptune in the same sign.
Some keywords for Neptune are:
Confusion, Dissolution Compassion, Psychic ability
Lies, Deception, Illusion
Art, Music, Theater, Film, Photography
Escapism: Drugs, Alcohol and other means of avoiding Reality
Addictions
Spirituality
Confinement
Neptune rules:
Large Institutions (the Military, Hospitals, etc.)
Oil and Petroleum Products (plastics)
The Feet
Violins, stringed instruments

I am learning how to do bith charts and astrology . Right
now I’m doing a chart for a friend who is Sun cancer with pisces moon and pisces rising. I know that neptune is the ruler of the chart here . the interesting thing is though she has Neptune in retrograde in her 9th house which also just happens be her south node . I know there must be something interesting in that aspect and I wondered if you could give me some information on this . She also has Mercury in rerograde in her 5th house cancer.

Seeing how neptune has a habit of dissolving boundarys of reality and my neptune is in Capricorn (which is more of a realist) ... well, how does that work (my sun is also in Capricorn)
6 · Molly · 29 May 2006
Hi Chelsea--
Neptune moves slowly and is a “generational planet", meaning everyone in your age group has Neptune in Cap.
Think of Capricorn as representing buildings, structures, rules, business. And Neptune is what your generation does to those ideas. I.E makes them more fluid, more adaptable, more compassionate. Or more deceitful. It will be interesting to see what happens in water sports, the pharmaceutical industry, in architecture, government and business, as your generation comes of age.

My Gemini friend sent me here through a series of messages and insinuations
until reading the above I had to say to him on the phone:
“this is like a revelation.”
The ten year thing TOTALLY hit the mark.
WOW.
Yes, I am a Pisces. I told him in our conversation tonight – that I’ve said for years (and this is true:)
“I don’t believe in astrology; but I believe in Geminis!”
wink

Hi,
I came across your site while doing a project for science on Neptune. When I used some of your information along with things like the mound of neptune in palmistry, He said it was all fake and a myth. But this is totally true. I don’t know if it’s just because I’m a Pisces, but I really believe this stuff. I’m learnig tarot, palmistry and astrology now. It is creepy true!

Hi Molly!
What do you mean when you refer to the characteristics of a “strong“planet? Like you said “A strong Neptune indicates…”
How do you know if you have a “strong” Neptune in your chart? Or if any other planet is “strong?”
Thanks!
Tiffany

Hi Tiffany – that is an excellent question. As such, it is not an easy one to answer. I don’t have it in me at the moment, but I will write an article sometime soon.

Hi Molly, As a person with sun/mer/mars/first house trine Neptune/8th house and ven/Jupiter 12th house sq. Neptune I think I know how Neptune works! I’m 60 and have smoked pot for most of my life and will probably continue to do so. I live in the country where it is quiet and peaceful. I have had to learn to protect myself and surround myself with beauty. Always my bubble will be popped but with age the brutality of it all has lessened. If you ever do a book or paper on Neptune let me know. I loved Liz Greene’s book.

Thanks anyway…hope to see the article soon. I’ve seen many references to “strong” planets, and haven’t found an anwer yet.
19 · Molly · 22 September 2009
Start with any planet conjunct an angle. That is going to be a strong planet. www.north-node.com/tag/angular-houses/

Hi Molly
I was told that I have a very powerful chart and a kite that points to neptune (starts at Mars 10th house, other points pluto 2nd house, sun 5th house). Does it suggest I would be successful in creative things such as art, music etc? I am not aware of any hidden talents there but it may be an idea for somewhere to take up a hobby.
Sun – Aquarius
Moon – Pices
Rising – Virgo
I was told I was a powerhouse with a very loud internal critic!
Any suggestions greatly appreciated :)

sorry Molly I forgot to mention the kite is pointing to Neptune – which is in my 4th house :).
Many thanks,
