Molly's Astrology for October 2013
The Revolution will be Televised
The Volatility Vortex (see May) returns, stirring up business, government, politics, and personal issues. Matters of life and death come up in the news and in our lives. War and violence, unstable minds and markets. Personally and collectively, it’s a wake up call that can liberate us if we pay attention. We sort through the past, keep what we treasure, throw out the rest and make a fresh start.
We have an ally on our journey through the chaos. He is a gentle healer, who shows us how to embrace our uniqueness, our inner “nerd,” and to look within ourselves to heal old wounds. He opens the door to deeper understanding, to wisdom, through our physical connection with the earth. Work with your body’s wisdom. Try some body awareness exercises to develop your kinesthetic sense. Do the emotions and attitudes you hold make a positive or negative impact on your body? (See March for more on Chiron.)
Day by Day
October 1-2, there is high drama as the Sun enters the Volatility Vortex. Our energies are up and down, and all over the place. Our emotional baggage is more easily triggered. Agitation all around us irritates our nervous systems. Let go of inconsequential concerns, and keep life as simple as possible.
The New Moon on October 4 connects with the Volatility Vortex. During this Lunar cycle, the emotional pendulum must make some violent swings to either side before settling into a more balanced pattern. October 6-8, talk it out. Mercury, the messenger, hits the Virtuous Circle. It’s a moment of relative calm, an opportunity to work with heavier issues and emotions. A problem solving attitude wins the day. The social landscape lightens up on October 7-9, but there is a tendency to let your imagination get the best of you. Don’t get drunk with strangers or lend money.
There’s danger around the Lunar Eclipse on October 18. We are more easily agitated and inclined to recklessness, and more likely to go out ill-prepared, uninformed, or intoxicated. This is not the time to fool around on a boat or try a new prescription for the first time. Keep it simple, and play it safe. Our guts are more sensitive than usual around this Eclipse. Watch what you eat. October 21-November 10, Mercury retrograde brings on computer glitches, network and connectivity problems, crossed wires, delays, and schedule changes. It’s a great period for reviewing past research. Scan your archives for valuable information. As we get closer to the end of the month, the Volatility Vortex is at maximum power. Change is in the air. Nonetheless, some plans come together nicely, and things get done October 29-31. Keep an eye on the kids and pets this Halloween. If you get a spooky-weird, not a spooky-fun, feeling about someone, pay attention.
