Molly's Astrology for November 2004
Mark your Calendar! The best days for your top priority plans are November 2, the evening of the 4th, 7, 9-15, 18, 24-28.
Scale back on your plans and expectations the morning of the 4th, and November 5, 6, 29, 29, 30.
Take a look up at the sky. What do you see? If the night sky is clear, you are likely to see the Moon and stars. In the morning sky, you can see Venus, Mars, Jupiter and Saturn. If you are very observant, you might catch a glimpse of Mercury in the evening sky, just after sunset.
Humankind has been watching the skies for millennia. Over time, people from many different cultures have noticed and catalogued a correlation between celestial phenomena and worldly events. Astrology is a body of knowledge that takes into account this ancient wisdom. It is the oldest science, the mother of astronomy.
Over time, we have learned that some aspects, or alignments of planets, tend to bring challenge and obstacles. Others suggest harmony and ease, things falling into place— an interplanetary “kiss!” For everything there is a season, and we need both challenges and kisses. Without obstacles, our lives would be stagnant; we might never change. Without kisses, things may never settle down. We have been through some pretty tough challenges this Summer and Fall, aren’t we all ready for some easier times? In November, the dominant energy is harmony and opportunity. This is good news if you have been working hard to accomplish a goal, especially if that goal is related to the arts, water, spirituality or intuition. Most folks enjoy “kiss” times, but this may not be good news if you have been working to stop something from happening— as the overriding idea is the removal of obstacles. If things are not going well, then reach out for help, as big kisses suggest that people are willing to help you.
I do not have a prediction for the election, but I have kept my ear to the ground, listening to what other astrologers have to say. I have heard a case for both sides, but the case for Kerry winning seems stronger to me. In the early 90s, my friend Lynn Koiner predicted that we would have a Democratic president for 8 years (Clinton), then a Republican for 4 years (Bush) and then another Democrat. We will know soon enough. At any rate, I hope you will all get out and vote, vote from your heart, and pray that whatever happens is for the good of the country and of Mother Earth.
The first 10 days of November, as Mars finishes up his journey through Libra, we are focused on negotiations, decorum, relationships— both cooperative and adversarial. Libra is an air sign, and Mars’ journey through Libra is a time of high mental energy. As Mars enters the lusty, powerful water sign Scorpio on November 11, our focus turns back toward the emotions, self preservation, sexuality, toward one’s deepest desires, and maybe even obsessions. Scorpio is one of Mars’ home signs, therefore Mars is comfortable there and expresses well, when not under stress. November 12-18 are excellent days to take action on an idea or invention. Doors of opportunity are open, as Mars lines up in a kiss with innovative Uranus, and the Sun kisses responsible Saturn, planet of business, authorities, and long-term gain. The energy of new ideas is in the air, and the authorities are more open than usual. Plan your most important meetings and highest priority matters for these days, taking a break on Sunday the 14th to honor the spacey energy of the Void of Course Moon.
November’s major kiss appears early in the month and builds in power through November 28. Jupiter trine Neptune. A trine blends the energy of the two planets in a beneficial way that promotes movement and brings opportunity. Jupiter signals abundance and good luck, short cuts. Neptune is a dreamy, spiritual planet, planet of illusions. He rules over theater, decorating, fantasizing, art, movies, and music, so we are seeing expansion and opportunity in all of these areas. It’s also a great time to have a psychic reading or a deep conversation, visit the ocean, or take a spiritual journey, as Neptune is the planet that rules over our spirituality and connection to divinity. Your prayers and rituals have great power this month! The only thing to watch out for is that we all get a bit “high” on this energy! So be mindful that it is very easy, especially during the last two weeks of November, to spend too much money, get too intoxicated, buy things you don’t need, and promise more than you can realistically deliver. Enjoy the energy, but keep your senses about you. There is still important work to be done.
I am assigning you two tasks this month. First, have any important automobile maintenance and repairs done this month, especially if you have been putting it off for a while. Check your tires, change your oil, and “winterize” your car. Second, back up the hard drive on your computer. For extra credit, get your shopping done early, especially for tools, machines, computers, gadgets, and airline tickets. Why now? Because the trickster has the upper hand in December. Mercury, the planet that governs communication, travel, commerce, and all mechanical things, will be retrograde November 30-December 19.
