The first four days of February are pretty intense, as the second (retrograde) pass of the Saturn-Uranus opposition perfects on February 4. You may continue to experience some shifting sands in your life as the energy unwinds, especially as the Moon touches the opposition every subsequent Wednesday in February.

Aquarius

Mars, planet of high energy, also slipped into Aquarius on February 4. All this Aquarius energy is a definite change of pace from where we were just a couple of months ago—now things are lighter, more social, friendlier and faster than when these planets were moving through serious and traditional Capricorn.

February 1-6

Time to break with tradition, as Saturn opposes Uranus for the second of five contacts in this opposition cycle.

February 7-11

A Lunar Eclipse in Leo turns the emotional volume knob up to 11. Issues of pride, self-reliance, confidence, creativity and leadership play a part. Keep things in perspective.

Monday through Wednesday (Feb 9-11), Mars forms a sesquisquare to Saturn and semisquare to Uranus. This throws a little burn and irritation into a situation that is already pretty volatile. I hope Washington will let things simmer this week, instead of forcing the important issues on the table right now. Avoid dangerous people and places, and don’t fight other people’s battles. You could get sucked in and blamed.

February 12-23

Valentines

Valentine’s Day weekend looks very sweet with Venus in Aries forming a sextile with Mars and Jupiter in Aquarius. These are not your typical romance signs. Aries is straightforward and unfiltered, and Aquarius is impersonal and objective. Nevertheless, these two planets together are friendly and sweet, but not mushy. As long as you nobody brings swoony fairy-tale “Perfect Valentine’s Day” expectations to the table, you’ll probably have a pretty good time.

The high energy, optimistic Venus-Jupiter-Mars connection remains in force through Wednesday and favors leaders, athletes, and other self-reliant people who know what they want and take the initiative. Thursday and Friday are good days for compromise, problem solving, and asking for help, as the Sun sextiles healing Pluto.

The weekend of the 21st looks clear and calm. Stick to routine as the Moon is Void of Course in Capricorn all day on Saturday before moving into Aquarius. It’s the dark phase of the Moon, time to evaluate and wrap up what you have been working all month, and prepare for a new cycle.

February 24-28

New Moon, a new cycle. The New Moon is time to plant seeds and set intentions for the next 28 days. In Pisces, it highlights goals and wishes related to your creativity, health, dreams, emotional and spiritual well-being. Pisces, a water sign, is about engaging with the flow of things. Are you in balance with the flow? Are you trying too hard to control things, resisting the current? Or are you getting caught up in the flow, overwhelmed?

The period just before the New Moon is also the best time of the month to give up an addiction or bad habit.

Monday through Wednesday are upbeat and good for plans and meetings as Mercury conjoins Jupiter and sextiles Venus. There’s a bit of stress in the heavens as the Aries Moon squares Pluto on Thursday evening. Some folks may be a little stubborn, tunnel-visioned, touchy or irritable as Mercury conjoins uppity Mars, and the pair of them form a couple of minor quacks to Pluto and Saturn. Be as flexible and willing to compromise as possible. Choose your battles wisely. Don’t take other people’s eruptions personally.

If relationships are feeling a little weird to you, read up on Venus Retrograde, which starts on March 6. Retrograde means backwards, and before you can go backwards, you have to slow down. We are in this slowing down period in late February.
