Astrologers watch the movement of planets through the heavens, which form and release patterns and connections with each other in a mysterious dance of energies. As above, so below. We here on Earth, whether or not we know it, dance along to these cosmic patterns. We can’t change the energy, but we can become aware of it and dance with the beat rather than against it. This awareness, which is older than civilization, is what the art of astrology is all about. By drawing on this ancient wisdom based on millennia of observation, we can create a weather forecast of times to come.

February 2-10
This is a good week to expand your network, reach out to others. The 4th through the 7th are all about following your creative instincts as the Sun meets Neptune in the heavens and “carries the light” of Neptune—which represents imagination, intuition, spirituality, dreams, altered states of consciousness, creativity—into a contact with Jupiter, planet of luck and growth. It’s a great time to express yourself creatively or engage in healing work. Enjoy, but don’t get carried away with it. Jupiter is prone to excess, and Neptune is spiritual and imaginative but sometimes a bit too tipsy or in love with the idea of something rather than the reality.

February 8-14
Then we have something like a relay race. Mercury steps in and carries the light from Neptune to Jupiter from the 8th to the 10th, and meets up with the Sun in a sextile to healing Pluto on the 13th and 14th. Sextiles represent opportunities and solutions. Mercury is information, and the idea here is getting the information you need, opening the lines of communication, moving things forward. Just double check everything as Neptune plays fast and loose with the facts and numbers at times.

If, despite the easygoing nature of the skies in early February, something is still delaying or frustrating you, here’s why. Saturn is tangled up with his mythological arch-rival, Uranus. Saturn is responsibility, the authorities, the establishment, and Uranus is the underlings, the new invention, new technology, radical thinkers. When these two tangle in the sky, they also tangle here on Earth—as above, so below. So we may see things like websites going down, authorities being too rigid, good ideas which go unheard, or bad ideas which should never have been accepted (thus technology problems). We may also see a conflict between Congress (the group, Uranus) and the President (Saturn). This energy builds in power until it peaks on the 17th.

February 14-17
Meanwhile, Venus has picked up the baton in the relay race, and carries the light, once again, from Neptune to Jupiter. Venus is the love goddess, so this time the focus is on our friendships and relationships with others, as well as money—Venus also governs finance in astrology. From the 14-17th, you can do some great wheeling and dealing. Even though some situations are frustrating (see above), you can still reach out and touch someone. This is the friendliest Valentine’s Day we have had in several years. The energy of romance is in the air, and it’s not fake or contrived like it is most Valentine’s Days. An idea in the air on Valentine’s (and the weekend before) is that unconventional plans work. Dinner and a movie is so blas. Take your special friend somewhere new and unusual!

February 19-22
By the end of the week, Mercury and the Sun have shifted from Aquarius to Pisces, moving the tone of things from a logical to a more imaginative vibe. A lot happens over the weekend, and it looks easygoing. Venus contacts Pluto, a good time for healing relationships as well as dealing with major financial issues. You need to be willing to deal with the truth of the situation, and give up your cherished illusions. new ideas, inspirations, or imaginings are in the air. Take some time to write down your ideas and perceptions. Who knows what might come of them!

February 23-28
A Full Moon in Virgo appears just before midnight on the 23rd. This Full Moon also brings in the message: open up some new doors. Try something different. What’s the truth of your situation? Virgo relates to your daily routine and your health. Shake it up a bit; try something different. This message echoes through the following weekend and through the end of the month.
