Before I begin, I have a couple of announcements.

First, I will be on vacation for two weeks in June. If you are a client and will need an update for June or July, You might want to get your order in early. That way you’ll definitely have your update on time.

Second, I decreased the price on my 2007 calendar, electronic version. Since nearly half the year is over, it makes sense. You can now buy it for $6.

Full Moon on May 2. This Moon is in powerful Scorpio, sign of life and death, survival, regeneration, sexuality, and finances. For the first time in a while, the full Moon is not powerfully linked with other planets in the sky, at least not by major aspect. That makes its energy relatively mellow. However, it may still impact your chart powerfully. Scorpio’s message: let go. If you are feeling exhausted from holding on under this Moon, maybe it’s time to let go.

May 3-5, Mercury sextiles Uranus and squares Saturn. Saturn and Uranus are inconjunct one another— this means that Saturn in Leo, representing the Boss, responsibility and tradition, is out of synch with Uranus in Pisces, representing creativity, rebellion, new ideas, and intuitive flashes of truth. To paraphrase Bernadette Brady (in her book Predictive Astrology, an inconjunct is an adjustment aspect— you have set the stage, the actors know their lines, the setup is in place. At the last minute, you have to move the production to a different theater. You have to adjust to the changing reality around you.

Now, this Saturn Uranus inconjunct has been going on for some time, and it’s basically over. But Saturn has backed up, and is almost in this alignment with Uranus again. Mercury hitting them both on Saturday twangs the strings and resonates their energy again. Mercury represents the flow of information, commerce, and paperwork around us. Things will probably start getting interesting around Wednesday, but the energy will be the strongest just before it’s exact, on Friday and Saturday.

Even more interesting is Jupiter transiting both Saturn and Uranus. Jupiter trines Saturn— that’s typically good for business (Saturn) in general and bullish in the stock market. The first five days of May are the best of the month for getting things done. People are both optimistic and practical when Jupiter trines Saturn.

However, on May 10— just four days after the Jupiter Saturn trine completes, Jupiter will square Uranus. Another twang that resonates the Saturn Uranus inconjunct’s frequency. Surprises, wake-up calls, sudden changes of fortune. It will be an interesting week for Uranian things and people— electricians, programmers, computer techs, technology companies, inventors; and Jupiter’s folk too: speculators, teachers, preachers, schools, Democrats. Jupiter is traditionally a benefic— a planet that brings benefits. Jupiter squares signal too much. Our sense of proportion is out of whack, making it easy to underestimate or overestimate, or jump to the wrong conclusion. So take your time.

May 11-13, spacey and volatile. Our heads are in the clouds, as the Sun squares space cadet Neptune. And Mars in Pisces squares Pluto-- our actions and attitudes can provoke intense reactions. So tread lightly, leave your guns at home, and avoid dangerous places and people. An Aries Moon with Mars square Pluto is not the astrology I would have picked to celebrate Mother’s Day, but we take what we can get. Mars transits tend to come early, so the energy will be at its peak on Saturday. We’re at the “hangover” phase of it by Sunday and Mother’s Day.

May 14-18 look pretty mellow. A new Moon in earthy Taurus on Wednesday afternoon is time to start new projects and make wishes in the areas of finance, health, sensuality, pleasures, self-esteem, and building a solid foundation for the future. And it’s a good time to consciously release any self-defeating stubbornness. There’s a joker in the deck this weekend, as Mercury opposes Jupiter and squares Uranus, the “wild card” of the Zodiac.

May 21-25— Monday and Tuesday are good for creative and artistic pursuits as Mercury trines intuitive Neptune. Pay attention to your dreams early in the week. Wednesday and Thursday are good for meeting people and making connections that are new, creative or unusual, as Venus in nurturing Cancer trines Uranus in intuitive Pisces. These are great days to call up a friend.

May 26 and 27, a little bit touchy. Someone may be obsessively overthinking (Mercury in Gemini) or unwilling to compromise as Mercury opposes Pluto. The upside is, it’s a good time to get clear on what you think and what you want. Not on the surface, but deep down. And figure out how you need to change to get there, what you need to let go of, who you need to forgive. Maybe yourself as well as others.

We are building up to a second full Moon on May 31, this time in adventurous Sagittarius, sign of teaching, learning, journeys, and expanding your horizons. Sag is a visionary sign that visualizes the future, the destination, then begins the journey there. Sag is optimistic, idealistic, and spiritual. But it is not without depth. This is a moment to connect with our inner philosopher and assess whether we’re happy with the way we are living and the direction we are going.

So enjoy the light of this spiritual and philosophical full Moon. Until next time…
