Molly's Astrology for March 2008
March 2008 horoscope for all signs
Spring is springing! By the end of this month, Charlottesville will be inundated with hyacinths and daffodils— and not a moment too soon for me. I’m still a Texan at heart— winter is just too long!
So let’s get down to it. Because so many planets are in early degrees of their signs, Moon is Void of Course for exceptionally long periods of time this month. Watch these times carefully. If possible, save your most important business for other days.
On the 4th, Mars enters Cancer, a sign where he is uncomfortable—at times moody, defensive, overly sensitive. Don’t get upset or take it personally when folks around you are touchy, moody, or irritable. You’ll catch more flies with honey than vinegar.
March 1-6
We’ll be feeling a bit more artsy, creative, dreamy, compassionate, idealistic, spacey and/or in need of a break this week as Venus cozies up to Neptune, exact on Thursday afternoon. The Pisces Sun also connects with Jupiter in Capricorn, making this a great week to take a look at the “big picture” as it relates to your business or goals. Pay attention to your dreams, and trust your hunches.

Mars opposes Pluto this week as well. This is the first time we have seen this pairing in these signs (Cancer and Capricorn) in nearly 250 years. This high energy combination shows up once a year and signals powerful forces around us which can be constructive or destructive— just like an explosion can move an obstacle out of the way, or destroy something precious. Take advantage of the goodies this week, but use extreme care and follow safety procedures, especially on Thursday afternoon and evening. Mars lights fuses— and in Cancer he can touch off emotional hang-ups in all of us. This can create opportunities for healing if we focus on understanding and healing what’s in us, rather than blaming or judging others.
March 7-12
New Moon in Pisces on Friday afternoon. Each New Moon kicks off a new Lunar cycle and is a good time to start a new project or change a habit. Pisces is the sign of addictions, and this New Moon happens to be very near Uranus, planet of separations, breakthroughs, enlightenment, epiphanies, and freedom. So it’s a great time to liberate yourself from a destructive bad habit, start that new diet or exercise regimen. In her book, New Moon Astrology, Jan Spiller instructs us to make wishes at the time of the New Moon. In Pisces, we should wish for compassion, spiritual awareness, psychic experiences, inner happiness and bliss, quiet time, forgiveness, and freedom from illusions, defeatist attitudes, procrastination, and other destructive states of mind. Face the truth (Uranus). Even if it’s painful now, it will benefit you in the long run.

Friday and Saturday feature two interesting conjunctions— Sun conjunct Uranus in Pisces, and Mercury conjunct Neptune in Aquarius. This is particularly interesting because Uranus and Neptune are in each other’s signs— Uranus rules Aquarius and Neptune Pisces. This gives them a very special connection to each other and ability to work together— the planet of imagination and illusion with the planet of objectivity, enlightenment, humanitarianism and group energy. They couldn’t be more different— but here they are working hand in hand. When the more personal planets in the sky, the Sun and Mercury, connect with these more abstract and transformational planets, we are more tuned in. So keep your ear to the ground this weekend; listen to what’s going on around you. Don’t be like unenlightened Pisces, beholden to fears and in denial of the truth around you. Be like enlightened Pisces: aware of subtle messages and feelings, unafraid to see things as they really are.
And don’t forget to set your clock ahead an hour on Sunday morning.
Monday and Tuesday are clear as a bell and good for all your plans, once the Moon enters Taurus at 12:15 ET, ending the Monday morning Moon v/c period.
March 13-17
Jupiter sesquisquare Saturn, in force from the 11th (or so) to the 17th, symbolizes friction and indecision in business. People intend to help but sometimes get in the way. Things may be delayed or may take more work than you thought. It’s easy to get caught up in minor details, which may or may not be critical. Be conservative, and don’t try to do too much at once.
Venus enters sweet and drifty Pisces on Wednesday evening. Venus is happy in Pisces, idealistic and optimistic. So it’s a good time to make connections. On Thursday afternoon, she lines up in a kiss with healing Pluto, and Mars sextiles business planet Saturn on Friday. These are very good days for major purchases and business deals, and may signal good news for the financial industry sometime this week.
Saturday is looking a little more Saturnian, a little more serious and concerned with practicality as Venus opposes Saturn and trines Mars. Our dreams and fantasies (Venus in Pisces) are tested on the brick wall of practical reality (Saturn in Virgo). It’s a good time to be a buyer when Venus (prices) connects to Saturn (contraction), and not such a good time to be a seller. If you’re in the market for something, this is a good day to be at the mall, the flea market, or eBay. We can enjoy a little hard work, maybe even get some help around the house— as Venus also kisses Mars, our creative vision translates into productive action. It’s a good Saturday to clean out the garage or closets, plan the garden, or get organized as Mercury sextiles healing Pluto. This marker combines the intense focus and business/financial sense of Pluto in Capricorn to the poetic imaginings of Mercury in Pisces— solutions appear. It’s a good date night as well. Plan something fun for the evening.
Sunday is another good day for hard work and practical ideas. You’ll be ready for action on Monday and Tuesday morning as Mercury trines Mars. It looks like a lively St. Patrick’s Day, featuring a sociable Moon in Leo.
March 18-28
Jupiter sextile Uranus, in force until the 28th, brings growth opportunities around astrology, technology, and science and signals a good time to buck tradition and experiment with new ways of doing things.
Mercury and Venus will connect with this Jupiter Uranus sextile during the week of the 24th, opening doors to understanding agreement and friendship around your office or home. Save your most important business until after the Full Moon.

On Friday, just after the spring Equinox, the Moon waxes to full just as the impulsive Aries Sun squares Pluto in Capricorn. Capricorn holds back and contains the actions and impulses of Aries, creating frustration and possible disruptions in relationships. The full Moon is in Libra, sign of partnership, balance, and indecision. The message here is: be like the scales and weigh the fluctuations and changes. Your arms can move up and down as needed, as you evaluate the pros and cons of the situation. But your base needs to be strong. You can’t balance a situation by unbalancing yourself! Stay centered— this too shall pass. Don’t overreact to whatever comes up on Thursday and Friday, because next week is looking a lot clearer.
Monday through Friday are “glass half full” days, as Mercury and Venus come together, then come into contact with lucky Jupiter and inventive Uranus. I’ll go out on a limb and say that this looks like a good week for the stock market, especially tech stocks (Uranus). The current trend is down, but we may see a good bounce this week. Jupiter in Capricorn assists and grows the inspirations and imaginations of Uranus in Pisces with practical understanding and focus. It’s a good time to experiment, be open to new ideas and opportunities, and make changes. As Uranus rules technology, this is also a good time to purchase a new computer or gadget, or upgrade software. The good vibes last all week.
March 29-31
The Sun squares cranky Mars on Saturday— be careful with sharp, pointy, or hot objects and words. Folks are impatient and in a hurry, making accidents and arguments more likely. Be safe, keep a watchful eye on the youngsters, and don’t take things personally.
Sunday and Monday are unremarkable— clear and good for work and play plans.
Mark your calendar!
Best days for your top priority business are March 10, 13, 14, 23, 24, 26-28
Take it easy on March 5, 6, 8, 12, 15-17, 20, 21, 25, 29.

This month is interesting. My son, now now in the U.S. Army, is on his way home for 2 weeks. He is a Pices.
My very best advice for him this month is to have three eyes. One to focus on the past, one for the future, and one on the ever present here and now. This is the very same advice I would give to Obama, as he goes for the gold in November. This is also good advice I would give to anyone in business, trade, skilled crafts, and services. Keep all three eyes open, because all things from the past and future are going to congregate in the present.
Thanks Molly, for your very keen insights, and forecasts for March.

Hi Molly, back to my Dec or Jan post about v/c. I of course thought that that was when the moon was dark. So…if you have 2 new moons (or 2 dark moons) in a month does that have a special name???
5 · Tati · 5 March 2008
Dear Molly. I have been reading your monthly column for years now – and probably never thanked you for your great work. I never miss a month and truely appreciate the nice mix of solid astrological advice and your light and easy style. Many of my friends have become fans too. Merci! Tati from Switzerland

Hi Molly. I just wanted to ask you if this is a particulary difficult month for all signs. it seems that so many things are gong wrong this month for so many people i know. i lot of sickness, death and dissapointment. any ideas on this? how is next month looking. i just need a break. we lost our 3-year old dog on the 17th and were put off on our house building project earlier in the month and so many friends are having a terrible time this month as well. i was hoping there was an astrological reason for this and that it would all get better next month.
12 · Molly · 22 March 2008
Well I don’t know what’s going on in your chart, Kendra. The planetary aspects are pretty mild this month, but the new & full Moons have been intense.

Happy Spring, Molly!! Thank you for all your insights and wisdom!

I got a new digital camera for my birthday! Nice.
However…I have to say that so far this week has been a bit on the stressful side. Lots of cranky, crankiness in my toddler. I feel kinda crummy and my sleep schedule is all messed up because of Pele’s teething.
Oye vey.
Well my expectations are always too high. I should just enjoy whatever happens, even if some stressful crap comes up.
Hugs!
