Sextiles signal opportunity. This one, which appears the first week of December, is an opportunity to improve your health and well being. It may be painful or difficult at first, but will pay off in years to come. Chiron is currently in Pisces, sign of spiritual energy, sleep and dreams, the immune system, the endocrine system, and medical mysteries. Subtler forms of healing, such as reiki, flower essences, and homeopathy, may be especially helpful in bringing about the physical, spiritual, or psychological shift you need, to restore wholeness. This is a great time to focus on your health and healing, reach out and help others, or enlist a professional to help you. The sextile lasts through February.

Mercury retrograde continues through December 13. Caution lights around communications, travel and transportation, and anything involving complex scheduling and logistics. Green lights come on after December 15 for holiday travel.

The Lunar Eclipse this month, like the Solar Eclipse last month, tangles with Mars in Virgo. This cautions us to be careful and concerned about details, but not to the point of being picky or needlessly critical of others. Being overly concerned with doing it a certain way blinds you to the big picture. Squares in mutable signs tend to be neurotic, so the few days around the Lunar Eclipse may feel a little frantic and crazy.

Looking ahead to 2012 and beyond!

Neptune’s 13 year journey through Aquarius is coming to an end, as he makes his way through the last degrees of Aquarius. When the slower moving members of our solar system change signs, the shift in energy is subtle. But if you look back at the fashions, music, political and social changes of the different decades, you can see definite themes as we move from the 50s to the 60s, 70s, 80s and so on. We are on the edge of a new “decade” now. This new Neptune in Pisces era lasts through 2025. Neptune in social air sign Aquarius, from 1998 to now, transformed the way we work with technology, radio and TV, the internet, how we work together as groups. As Neptune moves into Pisces, I think the spiritual energy will grow stronger. It’s a decade for mystics, visionaries, artists. Charlatans too. I expect the big global issues ahead to center around energy and oil, addiction and drug policy, oceans and fishing, water quality. Medical advances will be made in our understanding of the endocrine and immune systems, as well as the mechanics of sleep and dreaming.

Meanwhile a square between Uranus and Pluto begins to rock our economic, social and political worlds in a way we haven’t seen since the 1960’s. Is it good or bad? Like everything in astrology, it is what it is. It’s up to us to understand it and work with it to our best ability. No one can ask more of us. Happy holidays!
