Astrological forecast for December 2006.
It has been an abundant season here in the office. And when it rains, it pours. Between getting my 2007 calendar ready, preparing custom calendars, all the readings that have come in, and my public speaking class, I haven’t had time to write my December forecast in advance. Mind you, I’m not complaining. I love my work, and I’m happy to be busy. So let’s get down to it.
Overview
Saturn retrograde begins on 12/4. When planets change direction, there is a period of time when they appear to move very little. Remember, we are looking at the planets against the backdrop of the Zodiac. As the Earth is also moving around the Sun, we witness retrogradation. Now, I don’t consider retrogrades of outer planets like Saturn to have a marked observable effect in the world, like Mercury, Venus and Mars retrograde do. Outer planet retrogrades are very subtle.
What is important is this time, called the “station,” the point at which the planet changes direction. Because Saturn’s retrograde begins this month, Saturn moves less than 1/2 a degree the entire month. That’s slow, compared to Saturn’s maximum speed of about 3 1/2 degrees per month. If this point, 24-25° Leo, aspects a planet in your chart, pay attention.
What’s significant for all of us, is that this stationary Saturn is in aspect to another planet in the sky: Pluto. Saturn is alllllmost, but not quite, exactly trine Pluto in the sky this month. He changes direction just before the trine completes. He will swing back around in August 2007 to complete it. This is a signal, an August “finish line,” a possible target date for plans that are just beginning to “rev up” in your mind this month.
These are two very powerful planets joining forces. Together they represent toughness, endurance, tremendous effort, self-discipline, painstaking research. This is about healing (Pluto) that goes to the bones (Saturn). It’s about transcending (Pluto) your former limitations and old paternal archetypes (Saturn), and opening up into a broader self-awareness and concept of leadership, and awakening a deep responsiveness to your heart’s desire.
During December, there are three planets that will touch off this Saturn-Pluto trine. These planets mark times to apply yourself toward solving difficult problems. Mark these excellent dates on your calendar: December 6-7, Venus touches the trine, time to reach out to others, make connections, heal relationships, make money. December 16-17, the Sun, time to go for it, let yourself shine. December 23-25, Mercury. Time to listen to others, share ideas, and solve problems.
Even with a soft, pretty trine, the energy of these two planets can be a bit turbulent. But trines do tend to open doors and clear a path for us. If you are looking for a healing, remember that Saturn is retrograde, as of December 4. Retrograde means look within yourself. Work on the inner landscape, and youll be surprised how the outer landscape responds as time passes! Saturn changes direction again in April, and that’s when we begin to outwardly manifest the changes we have been going through inwardly. This is so subtle that you might not even notice, unless Saturn transits a planet in your chart between now and then.
December 1-4
Friday and Saturday are jumpy, with a Sun Uranus square looming, expect the unexpected. As I write this, on December 1, the dog and cat alternate between bursts of frenetic energy and tired flops onto their favorite spots. Typical for Uranus, you’re either on or off. December 3 and 4, the Moon waxes to Full, and Mercury squares serious Saturn. We have a lot to do, emotionally we are going full tilt, and the mood around us is heavy on Monday.
December 5-10
Much better. The Moon makes friendly contacts to other planets on Tuesday, and we’re in a better mood. Late Tuesday night, Mars moves from intense, guarded Scorpio to easygoing, adventurous Sagittarius. You might feel a change in the air on Wednesday morning. Wednesday’s a great day for almost anything on your agenda, as Venus moves through the Saturn Pluto trine, and Mercury readies himself to come together with Mars and Jupiter over the weekend. Lance might call this a “day of grace.” The energy of the Mars Jupiter conjunction in Jupiter’s home sign Sag, is upbeat, optimistic, risk-taking, good for travel, imports and exports, communications and commerce, games and adventures. It’s a good weekend for work or play.
December 11-14
The mood shifts to a more serious note as Venus enters Capricorn on Monday. Capricorn is serious about life, and gets the job done. Venus is, of course, the love goddess, governing relationships, and she is also associated with money— people may be tightening their belts a bit financially.
It may help the markets that Saturn, Capricorn’s ruler, is trine Pluto (banking), making it easier (trine) to get consumer loans (Pluto). But for the consumer, watch out for wolves in sheep’s clothing. Be aware that the laws governing credit card companies permit sketchy practices that can cost you more money than you thought. Hopefully the Saturn Pluto trine will bring some much needed regulations (Saturn) and reforms (Pluto) to this industry.
Thursday and Friday morning are twitchy, as Mercury squares Uranus. There’s a lot of nervous energy around, and people are so eager to make their points, that they forget to listen. Problems with computers and machines are more likely as well. Friday afternoon, continue to take it easy, and stick to your routine. Even though the Mercury Uranus square has passed, the Moon is Void of Course until 5:42 pm eastern.
December 16-19
Happy Hanukkah. The Sun touches the Saturn Pluto trine between Saturday and Monday morning. It’s a great weekend to get things done, and a wonderful time for my Mom to turn 61 39 years old. I’ll be taking her, as I have for the past 8 birthdays, for a fancy Sunday brunch. Happy birthday, Mom!
Monday and Tuesday are easygoing, as Mercury kisses imaginative Neptune, and Venus kisses inventive Uranus. As you’re clearing the decks for a new Lunar cycle that begins on Wednesday, you can have some fun with this quiet time.
December 20-26
The New Moon comes in with a bang, coinciding with an explosive Mars Uranus square on the 21st. Something different is in the air this Solstice. Have a blessed Yule, and be careful with your candles and fires. Mars square Uranus combines high energy, high speed, with sudden change, and often occurs alongside accidents, fires, injuries. Traffic will be nuts, as it always is this time of year, and there will be some erratic drivers on the road. Don’t freak out, or stay home with your head under the covers, but do be a little extra cautious on Wednesday and Thursday.
Over the weekend, and leading up to Christmas Day, Mercury will touch the Saturn Pluto trine, infusing the air with practical ideas and transformative, healing energies as well.

Merry Christmas. Christmas Day features an easygoing Pisces Moon, which occults Uranus in the afternoon. Don’t let the word “occult” scare you, it just means “hide.” The Moon will move directly in front of Uranus, kind of like an eclipse. Something unexpected, and possibly significant, may appear around that time. A Pisces Moon connected to Mars and Uranus (in the afternoon hours) is very sweet, but like my darling kitty, whose chart features a Mars Uranus conjunction, perhaps the Moon too, in Pisces, likes to knock something off the shelf every now and then, just to make sure she has my attention. Christmas day’s Moon is kind of like Stevie: 80% darling precious angel, 20% stinker.
Merry Kwanzaa! The same Moon, minus the stink factor, persists through the 26th. But this Pisces Moon will square uncompromising Pluto, and chatty Mercury. It may be best to just enjoy the day and leave the difficult conversations for another time.
December 27-31
Mercury enters hardworking Capricorn on Wednesday, and we start feeling like getting things done, finding practical applications for the ideas we came up with when Mercury was in Sagittarius during the past 16 days. Thursday through Saturday, we are working under a Mars Neptune sextile, which combines high energy with spirituality and imagination. Put your dreams into action— let yourself be inspired by your higher spiritual ideals. It’s a great time to donate time or money to help others.
New Year’s Eve and New Year’s day look pretty good, with a Moon in chatty Gemini. Check your pulse just after midnight eastern time, as the Moon squares erratic Uranus in Pisces.
Mark your calendar!
The best days for you high priority plans are December 5-6, 9-11, 16-19, 23-25, 29-30.
Keep things simple December 2-4, 15, 20-21.

Much appreciated. With personal planets in the 24 degree range (my venus is 24 taurus/8th house) is this a buckle down kind of energy for the planet being activated?

Lovely forecast…
Grats on the recent influx of work, but do take good care of yourself when so busy!
Your Fan/Uncle,

Molly,
Have to say, I have a new kitty looks like yours. My kitty’ name is Bambino. I got him in an unusual way. (The Elicpse of the Moon trined my natal Uranus in Cancer) (Sun in Leo, Asc in Libra).
He is a Virgo but acts anyway but being a Virgo.
I will have more to say about Saturn in Leo. Isn’t it funny but when Saturn is in Leo, the whole world knows about it?
Take Care
Helen
5 · Molly · 2 December 2006
Thanks y’all for the kind comments. Ilona, I don’t have any planets in Virgo, but I do have the Sun and others in the 6th house. I have always liked Virgos and Virgo energy.
Virginia, yes, I would say Saturn is a “buckle down” type of energy. Not in the sense that you will certainly buckle under the pressure, but in the sense that it’s time to get busy.
Helen, if Bambino looks like Stevie, he must be cute. I think all cats have a magical gift. Stevie’s is her soft coat. She has the softest fur of any cat I know. The downside is, it’s so fine that when it sheds, it forms these multitudes of little dust bunnies (hair bunnies?) that accumulate everywhere.
6 · Stephanie · 3 December 2006
Hi Molly,
Speaking of cats and my recent 5 planet stellium in the sixth house, a stray cat showed up at my house about one month ago. Sixth house and domestic pets… Is astrology on to something here?
I have just listened to our recorded reading again of a few months back and everything is now making much more sense.
In hindsight, your reading was on target with my life circumstances, and this months forecast is in compliance too. Thank you!
Stephanie Huddle
PS The Survivor audition is the 9th of December.
7 · Helen · 4 December 2006
Molly,
this is crazy! Yes, Bambino also has the softest coat. Interesting because I had to put down my old cat, Milford on October 7th. Bambino made his debut on October 17th.
Take Care,
Helen
PS Thanks a lot Saturn. Saturn is right on my natal Sun at 25 degrees Leo. The last time that happened
I left my husband!
8 · Molly · 4 December 2006
Hi Stephanie! Thanks for checking in. I’m glad the forecast has been helpful. Good luck with the audition! Let me know how it goes.
Helen, Saturn’s station is at 25° 04’, just into 25 Leo. In other words, if your Sun is 25° and more than 04 minutes, Saturn will almost, but not quite, reach it before changing direction. You still feel the energy, but it’s easier to bear than the exact hit, in my experience.
9 · Helen · 5 December 2006
Molly,
When I left my husband, it was (to quote fellow Leo, Martha Stewart) a GOOD THING!
Take Care,
Helen

Hi
Im an Aries, Leo rising, Sagg Moon!
Any thoughts on what this energy is im being assaulted by? I just feel like im spiralling with torrents of feeling followed by a need to blank out, all being played out in a cavernous expanse. A few moments of feeling grounded and then whoosh off we go again. argh!
11 · Molly · 6 December 2006
Hi Miranda— I’d need your whole chart to be able to tell you who’s messing with you. It could be Pluto, Saturn, or Uranus, or it could be something happening with other planets in your chart that aren’t your Sun, Moon or rising. At any rate, I can’t tell given only the signs. Contact me personally if you’d like to set up a reading.
12 · Jeanne · 6 December 2006
Hi Molly
I am a Sagittarius – Dec 14- so I may not have CAREFULLY read all the details of Jupiter moving into Sag but I gotta think it is most significant for those of us with Jupiter as a ruler. Can you please give us your thoughts….. Thanks
13 · Molly · 6 December 2006
Hi Jeanne— yes, it is significant. I posted an article on it here.
14 · Karlen Storm · 7 December 2006
Thanks, I hang on every word you say, Happy holidays for you and your family.
Do you answer personal questions?
I am Gemini, Can you tell me why my life is in such a mess !

Hi Molly,
Even in far-away Holland you ave certainly one big fan (and a catlover too). I love your clear explanation and overview of celestial events. Starting at the age of 14 (now I’m 42) I consulted astrology for a much better understanding of difficult people (including myself!), times & curcumstances and all they are up too. Please, go on with the good work!
Hug for Stevie! Thanks a lot!

Karlen, I’m sorry but there is so much more going on than your Sun sign. I need to know a lot more than Gemini to be able to answer your question.
Elizabeth and Ellis, thanks!! Stevie says Meow!

Janny,
I don’t know if it makes a difference if you wait for Saturn or not. Yes, if it were me I would do it on a good day. And with Saturn conjunct Pluto, I’d get myself the help/education (3rd) I needed in managing (Saturn) money and debt (Pluto).

Hey Molly,
When 2 signs are governing the cusps of my houses which is the true leader. Some of my houses are bigger than others. Eg my 4th house is at 25deg scorp so all this sag energy is in my 4th at the moment and the deg of the 5th is 18 sag so then it will move into the fun stuff is that right? My first hose is 7 deg leo and the 2nd house doesnt start till 20 deg virgo. With saturn in the first I feel like I am going to have saturn there for a lifetime, lol no I know its just a couple of years. Im a cap sin in the 6th with merc as well. Love your site Molly.

Hi.
I;ve written to you before, but you must be very busy. I was born Aug 10th, 1959, at 04.00 am. I am Leo with Cancer rising. My life has been a mess since 1999!!! Will things ever get any better? Pls answer!!!! Eve
23 · Molly · 11 December 2006
Hi Eve—
Sorry, but I don’t do chart readings here in the comments. I do offer professional readings, please see this page for details.
Best,
24 · Molly · 11 December 2006
Monique,
Except for the angles, I consider house cusps to be fluid in nature. There are many ways to calculate them, and they all work to some degree. This tells me the intermediate house cusps are not as cut-and-dried as the angles. So Saturn may already be in your 2nd house by some systems.
I like to try out different house systems. You can try running an equal house chart for yourself and have a look at that. That’s the simplest method, just take the degree of your ascendant and use it for every cusp. If your ascendant is 7 Leo, the 2nd house cusp is 7 Virgo, 3rd is 7 Libra and so on.

26 · Elen · 18 December 2006
Hi Molly,
My boyfriend’s natal Mercury is 25 degrees Leo so this Saturn retrograde should be affecting him a lot. He is currently going through a lot of family ‘stuff’. Basically his family walks all over him and treat him like a kid (although he’s 34-years old). Yet his parents call him to mediate between them when they argue with each other so obviously they must value his opinion and must not think he’s that immature. They have also hidden the fact that they bought the apartment he now shares with his older brother. His brother was in college at the time and they said they purchased it for him to give him a sense of security yet neither the brother or the parents told my boyfriend once he moved in because they thought he would take it for granted.
I think they didn’t tell him because they want to maintain control over him and probably want him to move back overseas to be close to them. He comes from a culture that subjugates the youngest child and I think they try to make him believe that he’s not responsible so that he feels he doesn’t deserve to be given the same as his brother. How might this retro period manifest regarding these issues? He also has Uranus opposing his natal Mars in his 2nd house.
Thanks and Happy Holidays!
Elen

Hi Molly,
once again your information is so uncanny and true – of course this fish with her aries moon & leo ascendant feels it all intuitively and was putting August as the finish of many things… thank you for all the information and helpful planetary info.. you are an angel…I still listen to my readings from more than 2 years ago. Yes, I am overdue, and have found an astrologer locally but not as in depth as you or as informative on the aspects… soon as things not so crazy here will get a reading. Work is crazy, love life crazy, etc. merry xmas and happy new year! christine

I have a friend who’s north node is conjuct with my south node, What factor does this play in our relationship
