Mercury retrograde
Mercury retrograde begins August 2. As usual with Mercury retrograde, caution lights are flashing around communications, machines, electricity, connectivity, transportation, detailed plans and schedules. In Virgo, trouble happens when folks are so focused on their little corner of the world, the details under their control, that they don’t understand the larger reasons for what they are doing. Mercury retrograde is a fantastic time to review, revise, rework, revisit, rewrite. As Mercury goes backward, so does our attention. Focus on strengthening your knowledge and working on your plan for a push forward in the future, when Mercury is direct.
Neptune re-enters Aquarius
Neptune moves from the early degrees of Pisces back into Aquarius, beginning a period of several months when we are drawn back into unfinished business or an unconscious pattern that needs to be resolved before we move into a new phase of our spiritual and creative evolution. Pay attention to what comes up in dreams, meditative or creative states of mind.

August 8-10, a touchy Mars in Cancer squares Uranus and opposes Pluto. This combo is headstrong and volatile. Emotional outbursts, hypersensitivity, outspokenness. Some folks will express outright resentment of authority, in a negative Mars in Cancer fashion— moody, withdrawn, passive, undermining. With this combo in the sky, you need to be careful which fuses you light. For example, this would not be the best time to fire that angry postal worker.
A stressed out Mars inclines toward flare-ups of existing health conditions, especially headaches and inflammatory conditions. If you are prone to any of these, take especially good care of yourself, get plenty of exercise— but not too much, and not too hard. This is a potential accident or injury setup, so we all need to be a little extra careful. Not freaked out and fearful, but aware and respectful of the energy.
August 10-18, Mars opposes Pluto and sextiles Jupiter, redirecting the Mars energy to a more positive and useful path. Folks are less defensive, more optimistic, and more willing to cooperate. Solutions appear. Talk it out.
August 23-24, Mars squares Saturn. Slow down and be patient and sensitive to your own fears and anxieties, as well as others’. Step away from hurt feelings, and let the moment pass.

August 1st is the day I get my new hearing aids. I hope they won’t develop problems with Mercury going west instead of east. On the 2nd, I go for an introduction only to a potential employer, and on the 3rd, I see my doctor about a rather irritating posterior problem. Maybe I should just run away to Tibet, and wait for September. LOL.

Hi, Molly. I have enjoyed your blog articles and just had to say that I am working on a better attitude towards Mercury Retrograde. He is my chart ruler – AC is 4 Virgo – and because my job is all about communications, negotiations, and agreements, I really don’t like retrograde periods. I just have found myself annoyed and out of sorts during retrograde times, but this time I am going to use it well – revising and reviewing projects, short term goals, and long term goals.
Hope you will write more on Chiron. My natal Chiron is conjunct Mars at 3 Aries, and now with Uranus’ transit to that point, and transiting Chiron having just crossed into my 7th house on my natal chart, I am expecting continuing personal growth around relationships, which has been going on for a year in earnest. Looking back at Uranus’ travels through my 7th house and the gradual utter deterioration of my marriage, here’s hoping for positive developments.

This retro period is utterly ACK! Began new job late July, when new boss reacts to my noticing he’s on cruise control for six years. Issues escalate within one day of my quitting – then he leaves for a new job himself. Utterly ack! Computer troubles, lost mail, and hacked credit cards are totally mundane compared to the unnecessary drama just ended.

I am going to be scheduling a surgery and a friend told me to make sure its at the right time. Im not very familiar with astrology but I take her word My Birthday is 8/4/83 would someone be so kind to give me good dates in september and october? Thanks so much!
